Riding a catamaran in Sardinia…

And it was AMAZING!

If you visit Sardinia (Sardegna in Italian), a day in the La Maddalena archipelago is a must!

It’s everything you dream of in a beach day: pristine beaches, quiet coves, and truly stunning water.

We spent the day on a catamaran with @sorayacharter and it was glorious. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a company to take you exploring!

PS if you’re not into getting splashed, there were plenty of seats without wetness!

One of the absolute best things about traveling in

One of the absolute best things about traveling in Italy is there’s always another local dish to try!

I’ve visited Bologna three times and the region at least six, and I still found a new traditional dish on the menu I wanted to try!

Today’s pasta: la gramigna paglia e fieno, aka straw and hay pasta! I’ve seen it on menus for years but never managed to order it. It’s thicker than macaroni, curls up, and comes in two colors (hence the straw and hay name).

Often it’s served with a sausage and cream sauce, and it’s so good you’ll want to lick the plate!!

Y’all, Malta was the trip that nearly wasn’t.

I bought tickets to come to Malta FOUR TIMES. Between the pandemic and our dog passing, we’ve bought tickets and researched restaurants and even started packing.

Malta was beautiful and delicious and fun in its own right - one of our favorites!

But it was all the sweeter to finally make it there after 3 years.

Exploring Malta by boat is the single best way to see the best parts!!

Seriously, get yourself a boat trip. Malta is a popular destination for scuba diving, but even if that’s not your thing you can enjoy the water!

We did a catamaran day trip and saw a bunch of gorgeous beaches, a great lunch onboard, and still had plenty of space to stretch out!

A few tips for your boat trip:
- Arrive EARLY. If they say the boat leaves at 9:30, got at 8:30-8:45 for first pick of space. The boat wasn’t overcrowded but the people who arrived last didn’t have the best options!
- BYO water! They have it for sale onboard along with drinks and snacks, but it seems silly to pay more for theirs.
- Chacos, Tevas or some kind of strapped-on sandals are a must! The shorelines are rocky and flip flops won’t be enough.

My favorite stop on the cruise? Gdansk, Poland!

Gdansk may not be on your list yet, but it should be! It’s packed with gorgeous homes and ornate building, perfect for wandering!

A few things you have to see in Gdansk:
- The obvious one is walking down the Royal Way! It’s home to some of the famous sites like the Golden Gate and Neptune’s Tower. But I love the way each building is decorated uniquely. My favorite was the one with the tigers!
- Walk along the waterfront of the Motlawaw River. It’s gorgeous, and cross the bridge to get some beautiful views of the main town!
- St. Mary’s Church prides itself on being the biggest brick church in the world, but the bell tower is the main reason to go - climb to the top for an amazing view of of the old town!

Have you been to Gdansk? I’m already scheming on how to get back!

In spite of being on the Baltic Sea for more than a week, I only got in yesterday. I always want to at least step into water, no matter how cold!

Tallinn is the cute city you didn’t know you needed to see!

It has a great historic area, beautiful overlooks, and so much charm. I loved wandering around - it’s one of those perfect cities for wandering, even without a plan.

Save this post for ideas for a future trip!

But if you’re like me and want a smidge of plan, here are a few spots to see:
- there are a few viewpoints overlooking the city, but my favorite was Kohtuotsa.
- The guild houses on Pikk jalg are some of the best!
- If you want a museum, check out the Bastion Tunnels (Kiek in de Kök) - it takes you in underground tunnels and around the city walls!
- Or try the KGB museum for a bit more recent history.
- House of the Blackheads is a small spot, but a gorgeous historic door/building.
- Eat at Rae Meierei! Local food with a great feel.

The funniest difference between a Scandinavian cruise and a Caribbean cruise?

Half the people are in swimsuits. The other half is in coats!

The weather in the afternoons has been 70’s and sunny every day, so I’m posting up by the pool and soaking up the sun! But so many others are in sweatshirts. I’m constantly laughing about the clothing discrepancy.

Admittedly, no one’s choosing the Nordics as a beach destination, but it’s pretty great getting the best of both worlds this week!
