Fall Bucket List

Happy September!! Labor Day’s arrival this weekend always signals one thing: fall is just around the corner! Whether you think autumn represents football, pumpkin spice lattes, back to school, or cozy sweaters, everyone has something they love about fall. I’m looking forward to not sweating every time I set foot outside.

So in lieu of sharing monthly goal posts (we can be honest – no one except my parents were all that interested in those, and that’s okay), I’m changing it up for seasonal bucket lists! Less ‘check the boxes’ to do list tasks in favor of more fun goals, date night ideas, and overarching projects.

So without further ado, here’s what I’m looking forward to this fall!

Fall Bucket List

  • Host my parents next weekend for the Altus Air Show!
  • Carve a pumpkin.
  • Take my camera out to photograph something weekly.
  • Make pumpkin cookies, butternut squash soup, mulled wine, and macarons!
  • Build a picnic table.
  • Take a sunset hike.
  • Our Mexican vacation family reunion!
  • Make a 2016 scrapbook (yes I’m behind).
  • Celebrate 5 years of marriage.
  • Use our fire pit in the backyard.
  • Read Lonely Planet’s Travel Writing, The Weight of Glory by C.S. Lewis and Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist.
  • Make a fall wreath.
  • Host a football game day party.
  • Cook an epic meal as a date night.
  • Start running with Wedge.
  • Host a friendsgiving!

Wedge continues to get enormous. At six months he was 65 pounds! He’s finally old enough that we can try running with him, which I’m excited about. Lucky for us, the weather has already moved away from its unfortunate summer highs of 110+°F. Although he’s so crazy that I expect it’s going to be a job training him to go in a straight line without jumping all over us!

This year, I skipped some of the more traditional celebrations on my fall bucket list. Mostly because I’m not sure where I could go apple picking in the plains, and sweater weather or leaves aren’t a guarantee out here. 😉

I’m sure I’ll do tons more cooking and reading, but I’ve noticed that I tend to aim for the easy and convenient over the “things I’ve been wanting to make” list unless I plan ahead. Generally, I’m aiming to read all the books I own (every book lover’s problem, right?). I’m nearly through the fiction and hopelessly behind in nonfiction, because I’m a nerd.

What are your goals for this fall? Any special bucket list going?

  1. I love EVERYTHING about fall and I’m always excited for the change in weather.

What a great bucket list. I’m particularly excited for the pumpkin carving adventure. I hope you share pictures 🙂

  2. That’s a great list! I think they can all fit in together quite nicely – put together the picnic table and use it at a fireplace party! Also these food ideas – butternut squash soup is amazing and who doesn’t love some mulled wine?! I will need to make some pumpkin cookies too!

PS. Wedge is the cutest pup!

  3. I love lists and I love the changing of seasons! I want to make my own fall bucket list too! Some things I would like to do would be visiting a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, pumpkin carving. All of the typical fall things!

  4. I think this is such a brilliant idea! I’m going to copy you – not on my blog, but I’m going to give myself some seasonal goals…. that makes it seem more fun and achievable somehow! Wedge is very cute by the way…

    1. Glad you like them! I used to do this for every summer break back in uni, but it hit me recently that it’s fun for every season!
